Our History

William Coates Ltd was formed in 1963 as an Electrical Installation Engineering Contractor. In 1998 the company opened a Mechanical Division, and are now one of the leading Mechanical & Electrical Building Services and Facility Management Contractors in the UK and Ireland.

In reaching the milestone of fifty years in business in 2011 Weir & McQuiston as we were formerly known, embarked on an exciting development.

To mark the historic milestone of fifty years in business, it was decided that the memory of our founding father Mr William Coates Weir, should be marked in the most tangible way possible; Weir & McQuiston became William Coates Ltd.

William Coates is a name that is synonymous with the man that made the company what it is today, and a name that would ensure that he would be long remembered by; all that came after him, all who had dealt with Weir & McQuiston and all who would deal with William Coates. William Coates Ltd, a new name but the same highly motivated personnel, the same tradition and ethos and the same dedication to Quality, Value, Service and Delivery in everything that we do.
