NI Electrical Awards 2017, William Coates Winner of Commerical Project of the Year 2017 for the Windsor Park Project.
William Coates has scored another success for the company’s work on the redevelopment of the IFA National Football Stadium at Windsor Park in Belfast by winning the Commercial Electrical Project of the Year Award.
The company was recently named as ‘Contractor of the Year - up to £20million turnover’ at the ECA Annual Awards in London and, fresh from this success, William Coates has now collected another prestigious award.
The most high profile project delivered in the company’s 50-plus year history, William Coates completed all the £6.5million electrical works associated with constructing three stands and the refurbishment of the existing North Stand – all meeting the stringent UEFA category 4 stadium standards.
The project also included new headquarters for the IFA, with 1,000m2 of office space and world-class conference and hospitality facilities. An added challenge was the fact that the project had to be completed in phases to allow for matches to continue to take place.
This was further complicated by the unforeseen issues around the West Stand that was deemed unfit for purpose during the project. William Coates reacted to this by implementing an accelerated programme on work in the South and East Stands to accommodate 10,000 fans for the critical Euro 2016 qualifier against Romania.
